About Adventure Puketi Tours

We love showing visitors through the tranquil natural beauty of the ancient Puketi rain forest, here in the Bay of Islands. We are Department of Conservation approved guided tours of the Puketi Rain Forest. Puketi boasts some of the most spectacular scenery that Northland has to offer. We will share with you stories, history, culture and a high standard of educational information to take away. Your knowledgeable guides

Ian Candy
 your forest walk guide, has forty years living besides and tramping within New Zealand’s Puketi forest. Ian grew up in the area and feels totally at home on every trail. Ian shares his love of the forest with Bay of Islands holiday makers conveying a strong sense of conservation. The Candy’s have operated a 140 hectare dairy/beef farm situated next to the Puketi Forest, 20 minutes from Kerikeri and 30 minutes from Paihia, Bay of Islands.

Helen: Our longest serving guide (apart from owner Ian), and hugely passionate and knowledgeable about the conservation of the forest, the unique Subtropical native flora and fauna, our mighty Kauri tree as well as local history and the stars in our stunning night sky.

Tia: More recent addition to our team , Tia’s forest, flora, fauna and cultural knowledge is extensive.  She is especially enthusiastic about plants as medicine,  and speaks with dedication and passion about the forest and its inhabitants.

Barbara Candy has worked in a customer focused industry her whole life,  so when her husband announced that Adventure Puketi and Guided Forest Walks was where their future lay, her planning  skills kicked into action.  Barbara is the engine room of Adventure Puketi, managing the bookings, marketing, staffing and working with clients.  “Every client is important to us – this may be the only time they enter a Kauri Forest in their life, so we want the whole experience from looking to booking then doing to be seamless. Ultimately, it has to memorable for all the right reasons!”  Barbara has taken Adventure Puketi branching into, groups, special events such as weddings and conferencing groups and Dining in Forest all in her stride and is committed to providing the best service and experience possible.
