Do you know anything about the disease that is killing New Zealand’s Kauri trees? Read more below for an insight into how you can help.
Phytophthora agathidicida: This is the scientific name for Kauri Dieback. This disease has no cure and can be spread by the most tiny piece of soil. You can’t tell if a tree is infected by looking at it.
Efforts need to be put in place to reduce the spread of this disease. Boot cleaning stations like the one shown in the images below demonstrate efforts to help save New Zealand’s Kauri trees. Staying on the track also helps to save our trees as it reduces the spread of infected soil. Please help save our forests by educating yourself and others about this deadly disease.
