Corporate, Conference, Weddings, Special Events or just a get together. Kauri Vista   – Now Open for Bookings – we have for a number of years been offering Dining under the Stars experiences as part of our group and conference business and thrilled this year to bring it to a whole new level with the opening of our new events venue Kauri Vista.  Nestled in a valley overlooking our estate, with landscaped spaces for lawn or marquee events, native bush and wonderful views beyond, Kauri Vista offers a distinctive casual location for Cruise Ship passengers, Coach travelers, corporate or family groups for light refreshments through to stunning functions such as themed dinners, Weddings or special celebrations.   Partner these with our walking products and give your clients a Bay of Islands experience to remember!

Dining Under the Stars has evolved with successful restaurant owner/chef Colin Ashton, who has a wealth of experience travelling through Europe and America with stars such as Shania Twain, Red Hot Chili Peppers. He has a passion for presenting the very best of the Northland flavours while specialises in European and Thai food.  Colin will design a menu to your taste and budget, or bring your own caterer to personalize your big event. Every Dining Under the Stars function has a menu designed especially for it, depending on numbers and budget.


Firstly, again, thank you so much for a fantastic evening, you made me look good.

Organising our themed dinner was pretty easy, even with Barbara overseas at the start of our planning.  Everything (until a week out) was done by email.  Barbara was able to help me with catering suggestions, band and our drinks that we needed for this event.  When my numbers nearly doubled, Barbara took it in her stride, made contact with the hire company and just had everything sorted.

We started our evening with a bush walk with bubbles and canapés on the boardwalk under the Kauri trees.  The area was lit up beautifully and our guys loved the little “adventure” they were on.  When we arrived at Kauri Vista Venue, it was a fantastic surprise for everyone, there was all this darkness around us then the Venue and path were lit up with lights, first impressions count and as soon as I saw this, I knew the evening was going to be a success.  We had a marquee off the side of the Lodge, no one knew that we had to hire this at the last minute, the way the venue was decorated it looked like the marquee belonged.  Barbara and her team did a fantastic job, the caterers served amazing food and the band that their music at the right volume for the venue and played the right sort of music for our theme.  My team were talking about the evening for the duration of our conference, they even requested that we find time to go back during the day which unfortunately we were unable to find time to do.  Barbara certainly knows her stuff and hit this event right on the button.  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend having an event at Puketi Kauri Rain Forest and Kauri Vista Venue .

Barbara Candy has worked in a customer focused industry her whole life,  so when her husband announced that Adventure Puketi and Guided Forest Walks was where their future lay, her planning  skills kicked into action.  Barbara is the engine room of Adventure Puketi, managing the bookings, marketing, staffing and working with clients.  “Every client is important to us – this may be the only time they enter a Kauri Forest in their life, so we want the whole experience from looking to booking then doing to be seamless. Ultimately, it has to memorable for all the right reasons!”  Barbara has taken Adventure Puketi branching into, groups, special events such as weddings and conferencing groups and Dining in Forest all in her stride and is committed to providing the best service and experience possible.
